For Bardia Moradi, color is a decision — a way to refuse becoming a robot. The city is his canvas, and every wall a place to make something that wasn't there before.

Bardia Moradi is a painter and fabric-and-clothing designer based in Tehran. For him, color is never decoration — it is a way of sorting emotion, a decision, and above all a refusal to become a robot. His practice moves fluidly between the canvas and the body: he treats the city itself as a surface to be painted, where Tehran's streets, its people, and the clothes they wear all become material for the work.
Moradi came to art through fashion. In his first year of art school he noticed a void of color in the world around him, and set out to close it — first through what people wear, then through painting. His process is a dialogue with the canvas: he lays down color, stroke, and line fearlessly, asking and answering questions until he arrives at the form he's looking for. Yet fearlessness, for him, is disciplined. He builds rather than destroys, and never leaves a work unfinished.
At the heart of his practice is the act of emptying his mind onto the page — a privilege he uses to move life forward and to share his unconscious with others. He paints in silence, attentive to the faces and colors of the city, letting those emotions travel through his hands before his mind gives them meaning. His belief is simple: to stay colorful is to stay human.
